- 2009 Summer Pups -

This summer was a crazy one for Team Tsuga as it’s when we made the permanent move to Alaska, from New Hampshire. This litter is named for brooks and rivers near our old NH home. This whole litter came to AK in one dog box , but quickly outgrew that!! (Our sweet Pemi is the fourth of this litter and she’s off to California to be a sledpet, something she’s been hinting at.)

- 2011 Summer Pups -

In 2010 we tried a couple of breedings and had no luck. In 2011 we tried 3 breedings and they all took! We were a bit overwhelmed, to say the least with three litters coming in just over two weeks. We placed a few of the pups from Stinson’s litter, but kept all of both Eliza’s and Gila’s pups, making for a busy puppy pen, but providing much needed dogs to replace our aging race team. 2013-14 will be the first chance for this group to get out on the race trails. They’re integrating with the older race team well and will be a force in the years to come.

- Summer 2012 Pups -

The last of the Tsuga-Dogs?? In 2012 we repeated the Stump x Eliza litter, because the first group was uniformly showing promise as great sleddogs and leaders. Stinson also had her second, and last, litter with Logan being the father this time. Feeling the financial crunch of our large group of aging dogs, we placed about half of both of these litters with some great friends in California, New Hampshire, and Vermont and new friends in far off Sweden.

- Retired Dogs -

Our ‘retired’ dogs live out their entire lives with us. After they’ve finished racing, we run them in harness as long as they want to, and can still safely, go. While they don’t travel as many miles as they used to, they are invaluable for training our young dogs the Tsuga-Way. Eventually, the ones that will tolerate it, retire to our living room, at least on a part-time basis!

- Jim's 12 -

When we first decided to make the Yukon Quest a serious goal , we produced these two litters, just the second and third litter we’d had, and we kept them all. The Gila litter is named for Phish songs and the Mugs litter is named for climbing routes/places the late Mugs Stump put up or excelled on. We feel blessed that these dogs truly improved on their parents, getting Jim’s attitude/drive and Mugs’ and Gila’s simple, pure athleticism. Now, ALL 12 of these dogs have finished at least one of the 1000-mile races in Siberian-record time, and between them they have nearly forty 1000-mile FINISHES, so far. An amazingly accomplished group of 12 siblings.
