OU's softball team had a stellar performance, with sophomore Gabbie Garcia leading the way. The Sooners dominated the field, scoring 35 runs in just two games on Friday. Garcia and Ailana Agbayani were the stars of the show, combining for 11 RBIs in the 18-6 run-rule victory against New Mexico State. Garcia hit a home run in the second game, and the team's power-hitting continued with six runs in the fifth inning. Freshman Kendall Wells and sophomore Tia Milloy also contributed to the team's success. However, the pitching was a bit uneven, with Kierston Deal and Audrey Lowry allowing three runs each. Despite this, OU improved to 5-1 this season. In another impressive performance, Isabela Emerling hit three home runs in the victory against Montana, showing her readiness to compete. The Sooners had a total of eight home runs, the most in a single game since 2021. Sydney Barker, Ailana Agbayani, Kai Minor, and Kasidi Pickering also homered for the Sooners. Miali Guachino, making her first start at OU, delivered a strong performance, throwing 4.1 innings with no hits, one walk, and six strikeouts. The Sooners' upcoming schedule includes games against Minnesota, Idaho State, and UTEP. This weekend's games will be a test of the team's strength and consistency.
