"I recently worked on a film in Italy and performed in a play at the Old Vic for several months," she shared. However, even in these foreign ventures, Sarandon revealed that an Italian director she collaborated with had initially been advised against hiring her.
"They had that conversation, but he chose to ignore it. Now, I find myself working on small, independent films with directors who are just starting out," she added.
And this is the part most people miss... Sarandon's activism, while courageous, has come at a cost. She has been unable to find work with major American studios, going so far as to label the US as a place of 'repression and censorship.'
But her new life in Europe has given her a platform to freely express her views on the war, a freedom she cherishes.
Sarandon's comments come in the wake of a report by Variety, which claimed that Paramount studio executives maintain a blacklist of celebrities who speak out against Israel's actions in Gaza. According to the report, the studio, known for films like Top Gun, has a 'list of talent it will not work with.'
